Banking in Morocco

Best banks in Morocco for expats & digital nomads

Opening a bank account is one of the first things you do after moving to Morocco. Here are the accounts that work for newcomers and non-residents, plus the fintech we would set up before you fly.

How to open a bank account in Morocco

Any foreigner (resident or not) can open a convertible-dirham account (compte en dirhams convertibles) with just a passport and proof of residence; it is funded only from foreign currency but allows free outward transfers without Office des Changes authorisation. A standard resident dirham account requires a residence card; the big networks (Attijariwafa, Bank of Africa, Banque Populaire) also let non-residents and diaspora open remotely from Europe.
