Banking in Oman

Best banks in Oman for expats & digital nomads

Opening a bank account is one of the first things you do after moving to Oman. Here are the accounts that work for newcomers and non-residents, plus the fintech we would set up before you fly.

How to open a bank account in Oman

Expats open with a passport, resident ID card, proof of employment and proof of address; opening usually takes 3-7 days and an initial deposit (around OMR 500-1,000 for some accounts) may apply. As across the Gulf, a residence visa and the national resident ID are the gatekeepers, though some banks start the process on an employment contract before the ID is issued.
